You know this is i think every little boys dream job and to be fair and completely honest it is a lot of adults dream job as well,including mine,just think you get a new game twice a week and you have to play it to death for a couple of days and then write a 2000 word article pointing out all the good points and bad points then email your article to the editor and you get to keep the game an get paid a nice cheque for your work,what a brilliant job i cant think of anything better,that is until i started looking into the job itself and realised that you actually need academic qualifications before you stand a chance of getting picked for a great job like this.So how do you get into this lovely job i hear you ask well first you will be taking a game and playing it to death for sure but what if you hate the game after 10 minutes,you still have to play it and you need to take notes of any bugs and glitches so they can be fixed before general release.The few skills you are going to need is good English and grammar as you will have to write a report on the game which if your spelling and grammar isn’t up to scratch wont look good at all,secondly you need an eye for detail as some bugs and glitches make it into the games anyway and you don’t want to be the one who missed it.The problem with becoming a games tester is the jobs are not shown in the papers or on the job-centre ads no you usually need to sign up with a games-testing site who then pass on your details to the games company’s themselves and your next job will only arrive if you done your last one correctly so you need to be very thorough.Most of these testing sites need you to pay an upfront fee of around 40$ seems to be the average,now if your really hard up you could approach the games company’s themselves although this may not work out so well.The money isn’t as astounding as these various Internet sites make out but it is the same sort of money that you would receive from an average full time job except you will be mainly working at home,But like i said earlier if you cant put together a short article listing good and bad points then you wont get to find out anyway.
